The Story
The Gesha variety was collected from Ethiopia's Gori Gesha forest in the 1930s but languished in obscurity until Hacienda La Esmeralda in Boquete, Panama entered it in competition in 2004—and shattered every price record. Our micro-lot comes from a neighboring estate in the Chiriquí highlands, where Gesha trees grow slowly at 1,800 meters in misty, cool conditions that few other varieties could tolerate. Washed with surgical precision and dried in temperature-controlled rooms, the cup is otherworldly: waves of jasmine and orange blossom, ripe papaya and lychee, and a raw acacia honey sweetness. This is coffee at its most transcendent. Certified organic.
